Lauren Blakely: Caught Up in Us

Lauren Blakely

Series: Caught Up In Us

Book One: Caught Up in Us

Synopsis:

A second chance at first love...Five years ago, Kat Harper fell into a dizzying summer romance with her brother's best friend Bryan. It was a mad, crazy love full of kisses all through the night -- but he broke her heart and she had to move on. Five years later, Kat is finishing her graduate degree and building her business as a jewelry designer, when Bryan, head of his own successful company, walks back into her life. Bryan has been assigned to Kat as her new business mentor and the rules are clear. No hanky panky permitted. Kat can handle that because she's totally over him... right? Except, he still makes her laugh, and he remembers all the things she likes. Not to mention that he's even more handsome now than he was then. Then there's the spark between them -- the simply undeniable chemistry, and the tender ways he shows he still cares for her. Can they resist each other the second time around or will first love trump all?

Review:

This book went by pretty quick, but you got a lot of information in the story. It didn't leave anything out really. It told you what you needed to know about the past that shaped the current relationship that they were in and then went on to tell you have their relationship is developing as of now. It is a cute love story of a guy who was willing to sacrifice his happiness with his one true love so that she could experience the full college life. It is told in her point of view, but revolves around the decision he had made five years ago. The characters have great chemistry and you can't help but want things to work out. This is a stand alone novel. Caught Up in Him is a prequel to this book that tells about the romance that happened five years prior, but it is not necessary to read to know what is going on now. The other books are also stand alones that reflect characters that you meet in this book. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a quick and fun read!

Book 0.5: Caught Up in Him

Synopsis:

Seventeen-year-old Kat Harper has always dreamed of silver-screen kisses, the kind of love you see in the movies.
That’s exactly what she gets the summer before college when she meets her brother’s best friend Bryan.
He’s five years older, but that doesn’t stop them from falling into a summer romance so perfect it could have been scripted by Hollywood. They kiss in the back row of the movie theater, on the beach at night, even on the quiet streets of her hometown when no one’s looking.
Surely, he’s falling as hard for her as she is for him, right? But Bryan breaks her heart and leaves with barely an explanation, forcing Kat to move on from her first love... until five years later, when he walks back into her life. Now she has to face the truth that she's never gotten over him. Is it possible he hasn’t stopped thinking about her too?

Review:

I was actually a little disappointed with this book. It all happened so fast. There wasn't anything to the book really. Don't get me wrong the story line was very well liked, but I just wish there was more to it. There wasn't anything all that exciting. And the ending SUCKED! It just ended in the middle of a story. What kind of crap is that?!?!?! I loved Taryn and Wyatt, and all the other characters. They had amazing chemistry together and their story was really cute. It just had NO filler it seemed like. It went straight to the point. I was quite disappointed. Another downer is that the second book does not even pick up where this one left off. It tells of her best friend/cousin's, Lindsey, story. I don't know if there is even a third book or not coming out. I have a feeling though that the third book still won't pick up with where this went left off. I'm hoping it does, but I feel like it may pick up on a story that we hear about in the second book about one of Lindsey's friends.

Book Two: Just One Reason

Synopsis:

As teenagers, Lindsay and Grady found a love together that few people are lucky enough to ever experience.
When Lindsay Ross decided to visit her aunt for the summer in a small lake town in New York, she didn’t expect anything other than an escape from her demanding parents. She certainly didn’t expect Grady Hawke. At the end of the summer, Lindsay and Grady made plans for their future and vowed to be together forever. Back in New York City, events beyond her control forced Lindsay to turn her back on Grady and their love.
Grady has spent the last five years trying to forget the one girl who broke his heart. But when Lindsay arrives back in town unannounced, will Grady get to know the woman she has become and find out the real reason she left him all those years ago? Or will he push her away for good?

Review:

Kirsten did a whole lot better with this story. It has a lot more to it. It doesn't feel as rushed as the first book. You get the background story between the two main characters, their history in between, and what happens when they are reconnected. It is a tragic love story that turns out for the best. You feel so heartbroken for Lindsay and can't help but to cry right along with her. You feel Grady's anger towards Lindsay for the way she left, but you know why she had to do what she did, so you just want to yell at him for being so callous towards her. This book tells you everything you need to know without rushing into anything. It also tells the story from both point of views. It isn't just one sided. The epilogue is also one that will have you loving the story even more. I am hoping that Kirsten writes more for this series and ties up a few loose ends. Here's to keeping my fingers crossed!

Review:

It seems lately I have been reading a lot of books that are about girls that are pretty sheltered and are finally being able to move out on their own to start college. This one was no different.
Jamie-Lea, aka Jelly (as her brothers call her), has been living with her six, seven if you count Matt, brothers her entire life. She was raised by them and they are extremely protective, and may not have the best disciplining skills, but she never questioned it. She knew she had made their lives extremely hard and whenever she messed up, she knew she deserved to be punished. Jamie is able to move into a flat on campus with several other students and instantly clicks with them. When her flat mates ask her to go out for a freshman party, she agrees, and this is where she meets Jason. Jason is the epitomy of what you would think a bad boy would be. He clicks with Jamie right away. After he learns of her relationship with her brothers and how they treat her, he can't seem to let go of the anger he has towards them. He doesn't see how her brothers don't see how wrong it is for them to treat her the way they do. Their love overcomes it all though.
This is a very intense book. You are automatically drawn into the characters and the chemistry they share between each other. Jamie's relationship with her brothers, her relationships with her friends, and the relationship with Jason...they all captivate you. You feel what they feel. Understand where each person is coming from. You can't help but turn the page to know what is going to happen next. Definitely a MUST READ!

Book Two: Stronger With You

Synopsis:

After a tough start to her life at university, Jamie-Lea is only now coming to realise who she really is. Guilt still plagues her for everything that her family has been through but, with Jason's support, she's growing stronger in more ways than one. She loves her brothers whole-heartedly but deep down she knows things aren't right and never really have been. What has to give for something to change?

Review:

Jamie and Jason have been through so much, but it hasn't dampened their relationship. Yes, they have had their hardships, but it has only seemed to strengthen them. Jamie knows that she needs to defend herself more, but she also knows that she has caused her family severe pain. She doesn't necessarily condone how they punish her, but then again she doesn't really want to push the issue. She feels so guilty for everything that her family as had to suffer at her expense. Jason is having any of that. He doesn't think Jamie should be punished for something that was out of her control and he has no problem voicing these opinions/facts to her older brothers. He isn't afraid of them. If they want someone to take the pain out on, then it can be him, not Jamie. Jason is helping Jamie become such a stronger person, she thinks that it is only right that she help him with his demons as well. She doesn't know how things will end up when he finds out what she is doing, but she is willing to take the risk. They both just want what is best for each other.
This is such a great continuation of the first book. It captivates you from the beginning. You are drawn in. You want to know what is going to happen next. You cry right along with the characters, feel their hurt and pain, and just want everything to be for the best. You can't help but want to help them out. R. J.Sable knows how to write a book that keeps you guessing and waiting to see what will happen next. The book has such a wide variety of different types of characters. You don't see that very often. I was super ready to see how this trilogy was going to end. Hope you will like it just as much as I did!

Book Three: Always With You

Synopsis:

After an unexpected and unwelcome turn of events, Jamie-Lea Carter and Jason Reed find their lives altered drastically. They don't know who wants to hurt Jamie, or even why, but Jason and the Carter boys aren't about to let it happen.
Jamie and Jason's love is strong. They've overcome too many bad things to let this ruin what they have but Jason is terrified of losing the love of his life. Jamie wants to break down Jason's last remaining walls and convince him that, together, they can get through anything.
With Jamie's life on the line, will her brothers go back to their old ways? Or will Jamie and Jason get through it with the strength of their love? Many questions will be answered in the final book in the 'With You' trilogy.

Review:

I will just say that I seriously hated the epilogue for a few minutes. I was ready to get on Facebook and start a rant on the authors page. However, when I got a few paragraphs into the epilogue I loosened up a bit. I still didn't appreciate what R.J. was saying, but then I forgave. I was in such an emotional roller coaster ride the entire book that when the epilogue came I didn't think I was going to survive this series. I had been rooting for Jamie and Jason since the beginning and to think that they hadn't made it was such a blow to my heart. I will not give any spoilers of what this book is about. All I will say is don't jump to any harsh conclusions at the end of the book and start of the epilogue. Hold out for just a bit longer and everything will make sense. If you are anything like me, you will be crying your eyes out for the majority of the book. I didn't think I was going to have enough tissues to make it through this book. It was a great way to end the trilogy. I am very pleased with how everything turned out. :)

Jessica Gunhammer: Straight Laced

Jessica Gunhammer

Straight Laced

Synopsis:

Summer Jones seems to be perfect in every way. She’s always gotten good grades, graduated with honors and has never missed a curfew. So when Nate Thompson walks into Summer’s life, her whole world is turned upside down.
She envy’s everything he stands for; he’s wild, free and doesn’t have a care in the world. Not to mention he’s hot, has tattoos and drives a motorcycle. When Nate brings to her attention she’s too straight laced for him, she decides it’s time for a change.
She’s ready to start living the life she’s always wanted, but she’s scared to leave everything she knows behind and travel the journey alone. Will Nate be there to encourage her along the way? Or will the rebellion wear off and have her crawling back to her parents?
Nate’s always lived his life in the fast lane. He’s never wanted to be tied down and he doesn’t let anything get in the way of doing what he loves. That is until he meets Summer.
She’s everything he’s ever wanted but yet she’s everything he could never have. She’s smart, beautiful and on her way to the top. She’s way out of he’s league and he lets her know it, but yet he can’t seem to keep his mind off of her.
When Nate finds himself lying on the side of the road in the middle of the night, preparing himself for his last breath there is only one person that comes to mind, Summer Jones. He promises himself that if he makes it through this, he will do everything he can to win her over, but is it too late?

Review:

*Received ARC for an honest review**

If you are wanting a quick read, this book is for you. It literally only took me and hour to read. I have read a few books by Jessica Gunhammer, so I was excited when I received this ARC copy. However, I was a little disappointed. I don't know if it was just me or what, but I was expecting a whole lot more from this book. It all just happens so fast and ends very abruptly.
Summer seems interested in Nate from the beginning and pushes for him to tell her why he wants nothing to do with her. When she finds out that he thinks she is a "goody two shoes", she decides to prove him wrong, but the night that she tells her parents her plans for the future, Nate is in a motorcycle accident. It is when he is in the hospital that he realizes that he cares for Summer and has been nothing but mean to her. This is where their relationship starts. The book covers a whole 24 weeks of romance, if that's what you want to call it. Not a whole lot happens. The most exciting stuff is in the very beginning when Summer meets Nate and I think a week or so later, he is in his accident. The next most exiting thing is at the end, when Nate is able to walk a small distance and ends up setting up the barn in a romantic gesture. I'm not harping on the book, it was a good read, but I just wanted a whole lot more from the couple.

The chemistry between them is electric, but is Savanna willing to let go of Ty to explore her feelings for Colt?

 September 3, 2012

Review:

This was a very good book. I instantly fell in love with Savanna and Colt. They had such great chemistry together. You couldn't help but root for them and want everything work out for them. You felt Van's guilt that she had about Tyler and the accident. You felt sorry for her and you wanted to just be there for her like Colt was. You also knew how hard it was for Colt to go that route with Van because Tyler was his blood, his family. Family comes before everything.
This story is about a girl that has loved the same boy since she was very young. She never thought her life would be any other way. It was always Savanna and Tyler. She couldn't see how things were to change, even if she knew that they may not be the "picture perfect couple." After Van, tells Tyler that she wants to focus on school, he takes it the wrong way, and fills a void by women and booze. Van catches him in the act. Even though they are technically not together, it still crushes her. She ends up running out of the party and Tyler chases after her after he has been drinking entirely too much. Tyler takes someone else's vehicle and wrecks it, causing him to be in a coma for over seven months. During that time, Savannah is shunned by everyone. All of her friends and family, except Colt. Colt comes to town to help Tyler's dad with his farm. He comes to see his little cousin in the hospital to check on him and ends up seeing Savannah. Van tells him the whole story of what happens and how people have been treating her. Colt doesn't think it is as bad as she makes it out to be until he happened to witness it first hand. He convinced her to go to a bonfire with him and it is there that she gets the crap beat out of her by three girls. Colt takes her home and takes care of her. He decides it would be best for her to stay with him over the weekend so that her family doesn't see her face. During the weekend, things take a turn towards something more. Colt is resistant for only some time and Savannah can't seem to get enough of him. They begin a whirlwind of friendship in secrecy. They know everyone would judge what they are doing because she is suppose to belong to Tyler, even if he wasn't always so faithful to her, even during their time together. When Tyler finally wakes up, Van had already decided that she wanted a future with Colt instead. She loved him, more than she had ever loved Tyler, but how was she to break that to the man that had been in a coma for the past seven months and had had her all her life? She didn't see how anyone was going to not be sad when she made her decision. She went along with what Tyler was wanting, even accepting his proposal knowing it wasn't what she wanted. It wasn't until after he put the ring on her finger that she knew she would have to tell him about Colt. After all the chaos, things finally went smoothly and Savannah and Colt got their happily ever after.
I'm not sure if I had read this book before or if this is just a similar story line, but I felt like I had read it already. It was still a good story line. Ready to see what else is to happen in the series. Hopefully see how the story will go for Savannah and Colt. Also, hopefully Tyler can find someone that he can be serious with and have an actual relationship.

Book Two: Folding Hearts

Synopsis:
Colt and Savanna are starting their future together, but Ty is left with no girlfriend, no scholarship, no driver's license, and no hope for happiness. The only thing that brings a smile to his face is Miranda's little girl Bella, that he helped bring into the world....... but they live in another state.
Ty and Miranda have become good friends and their long distance friendship keeps things plutonic between them. When Miranda and Bella have to go stay at Ty's family farm in another state, it is only a matter of time before the chemistry between them explodes.

Ashley Suzanne: Mirage and Inception

Ashley Suzanne

Series: Destined

Book One: Mirage

Synopsis:

Mira and Kylee meet Danny and Skylar during freshman orientation, their first week of college. Two sets of best friends embark on a new adventure together, forming life long bonds.
Mira and Danny are looking forward to their future as husband and wife. Everything was going according to plan. That was until tragedy struck them on graduation night leaving three broken people to pick up the pieces.
Skylar has always stood in the background, watching his best friend begin a life with the woman he fell in love with until he can no longer keep a distance.
Right when Mira thinks her life is back on track it spirals out of control. What if everything you thought you knew was nothing more than a mirage?

 August 24, 2013

Review:

This book is not at all like I expected it to be! I was so sad and depressed along with Mira when her fiance died that fateful night of graduation. It takes Mira a while to get her life back together. She is finally able to seem normal with the help of her fiance's best friend, Skylar. Skylar has always loved Mira, but never acted upon those feelings for the love of his best friend. When fate brings them together again after his death, he thinks may be his chance; however, things blow up in each of their faces. Mira moves out of the apartment she was sharing with Skylar after only one weekend. They do not see each other again for a year. They both have strong feelings for each other and don't think that they will ever have those same feelings toward anyone else. They can't imagine tainting that love by being with other people. When their mutual friend, Kylee, comes home for vacation they get together again. Mira unleashes a secret that she has been keeping from everyone that may be the final straw to break the camel's back. Skylar and Mira finally put aside everything and realize that being together is the only place that makes sense and makes them happy. They decide that they are going to be together forever.
**Spoiler alert**
The last chapter you find out that everything was a LIE!! She has been in a coma for the past seven weeks. She wakes up in a hospital room and can't figure out how she went from being in Skylar's arms of his home to a hospital bed barely able to move. Danny didn't die that night. He came away unharmed. However, Mira wasn't so lucky. She banged her head pretty hard. She thinks that everything she dreamed was real. How do you explain to the man that you are engaged to that you thought he was dead and you fell in love with his best friend, all while you were in a coma?
I have to read the next book in this series to know what happens! I loved the chemistry that Skylar and Mira had together. I think they both realized that they are more compatable together than Danny and Mira. Danny is a sweet boy, but from the flashbacks that you have from Mira, it is like she always had a thing for Skylar but afraid to voice those feelings.
Ashley Suzanne you have done it this time. I was not expecting any of that to happen. Ready to know what happens next!

Book One and a Half: Inception

Synopsis:

Danny Thomas has never the boy who got the girl. All through high school, he sat in the back seat and watched his best friend, Skylar McBride, in all his crowning glory. The girls always flocked to Skylar, leaving Danny the third wheel.

Everything changes the first day of college, when Danny meets Mira Adams and she completely steals his heart. She's the only girl that ever chose Danny.

Through the ups and downs of college, Danny and Mira's relationship blossoms into something truly beautiful. A relationship that dreams are made of.
The bond of four friends: Danny, Skylar, Mira and Kylee is tested one fateful night when an accident changes everything.

Inception immediately follows the first book in the Destined Series, Mirage and showcases Danny's point of view during those four years that almost ended the night of graduation.

To understand the full story, you have to go back to the beginning: The Inception.

Review:

This story is from Danny's point of view of his life with Mira. It starts out from when he left for college as a freshman with his best friend Skylar. It tells of all the important moments they shared together and gives you a little insight on how he felt about the close relationship between Mira and Skylar. He never doubted that they loved each other, but it didn't really make him question anything between them. If you read Mirage, you know that Mira ends of falling for Skylar because she believed that Danny died in the motorcycle accident, but that didn't happen. As I was reading Mirage, I really liked the idea of Danny and Mira together. They seemed like such a cute couple and really loved each other, but she had to move on with her life. I loved Skylar. Yes, he isn't your typical book boyfriend, but I think that is what made me love him more. Then after finishing this book, I fell even more in love with Skylar. He seemed to stay by Mira's side no matter what. After only a month, Danny was starting the process already of moving on. He even seeks out a girl that looks like Mira in the cafeteria. I just think that if he truly loved her like he claims that he does, then he would wait a bit longer to see if she wakes up. Heck, it took Mira six months to get over Danny's death. Mira isn't even dead yet, and he is already thinking like she is. I am going to be rooting for Skylar in the books to come. I hope all works out between Mira and Skylar. I know that they will have some hardships with her being engaged still to Danny, but hopefully they can get past all that.

Review:

I have had this book sitting on my Kindle for a while to read, but just never got around to it. So the other day I decided that it looked like it was a good time to read it. I have read several other books by J. S. Cooper and just love her writing style. This story isn't any different.
This is a story about a boy who meets a girl. Boy thinks that is isn't good enough for the girl and the girl thinks she can make him see himself how she sees him. These two were fated for each other. They have a history that has paved the life that each of them live. He just can't get past the fact of who she is, but knows without a doubt that he loves her. How is he suppose to tell his family that the girl he loves is the same girl that they have spent their whole lives hating?
The chemistry between these two characters is very dynamic. You instantly love them. You want everything to work out for the best. You feel their pain, passion, and anger right along with them. I'm excited to see what the other books in this series are about.

Review:

--Received an ARC for an honest review--

I did not know what to expect when I received this book. I have not read anything by Lilliana Anderson yet. I have a few of her books on my TBR list for Good Reads, but have not had a chance to read yet. I hadn't heard anything about this book until I saw her Facebook post to win an ARC.

When I started reading this book, I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it, but then I really started getting into it. This story is pretty exciting. It is about this girl, Etta, who is finally getting to move out of her parents house. She has pretty much been under house arrest since the day her brother died, six years ago. On her 18th birthday, her father finally agrees that she can live close to uni. She heads out a week early to meet up with her friend, Aaron, so that he can help her find something to rent. When she arrives at his apartment complex, his "roommate" tells her that he is still out, but should be back soon. She ends up hanging out with him for a bit until she Aaron calls her asking where she is. She finds out that she has been in the wrong apartment the entire time. The guy she was hanging out with is Damien and he is a known ladies man and fighter. Etta knows that she should stay away, but she feels this weird connection towards him. She ends up finding out that he was friends with her brother and trains with her father at his gym. Etta and Damien end up starting a relationship that neither are able to explain. It's like they can't stand to be away from each other for longer than a few minutes. Etta starts realizing that this relationship is probably not healthy for her. She is acting different than her normal self, skipping classes, and bailing on her family and friends. Everytime she tries to get away from him, he ends up convincing her otherwise by distracting her with kisses. When Etta discovers something that she knows she is not ready for, she finally decides that it is time to end this relationship. She calls upon the only person that she knows that has been there for her since the beginning, Aaron.

The characters and story flow very well together. There were a few typos, but those are easily overlooked. This story covers a concern that many people wouldn't think is a serious issue. I feel that is a type of emotional abuse. Feeling trapped by a man that is stronger than you, and not having the confidence to leave him. I was very impressed with Lilliana Anderson's writing. I loved this story. I am excited to know what happens in the next story. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I will let you know that the epilogue is a doozy. I was not expecting this story to be a series. I thought it would be a stand alone. The epilogue is glimpse into the next book about what happens between Damien, Etta, and Aaron. I am very excited to see where it will go and how things will end up.

Review:

I started reading this book on Wattpad, but it only went so far. By then I was really into it, so I went and purchased it on Amazon. This is a different type of book then what I am use to reading. It is about murder, love, abuse, and some other underlying factors. I wasn't really expecting all of that and I definitely wasn't expecting the ending. This book had a lot of twists and turns. The characters were really great. You don't know what to expect from any of them. Everyone is a suspect. Excited to see what else this author has to offer.

Review:

I wasn't sure what to expect when I read this book. I had seen a lot of people commenting on it on GoodReads, but wasn't sure if it was something I would be interested in. I ended up getting it a few months back, but never read it. I was going through my Kindle library looking for something to read and stumbled upon it. I thought "What the heck?" and started reading it. I wasn't able to put it down. I think I read the book in 3 hours. It's a classic tell. A girl that is torn between what is right and what her heart is telling her.
April knows that she has an instant attraction to Isaac, but when she finds out that he is her tutor; she knows that she shouldn't pursue a relationship with him. Lukas is the cute boy next door type that you easily get along with. He is easy to be around and you automatically love him. April decides he is the safer choice for her career and her heart, even if every night she has to fight that heart. It isn't until Lukas tells her his secret that is so wrong that April gives in to what her heart is really wanting. That is when all hell breaks loose.
I instantly fell in love with this book. I loved all the characters and the chemistry that they had together. I hadn't realized it was a two-part story and as soon as I was finished I had to purchase the next book. It was just as riveting. Look forward to more from Karli Perrin.

Review:

I hadn't realized when I purchased April Showers that it was going to be a two part book, but as soon as I had finished it I had to purchase April Fools. I read this book in like an hour. I just simply could not put it down. After learning of the fire set to April's home, I was curious to know who it was. I had a sneaking suspension of who it was, but I wanted it confirmed. I also wasn't sure what April would do whenever Lukas got better. I didn't know if she would go back to him out of guilt or carry on a relationship with Isaac.
This book did seem a bit rushed. It was like it just wanted to tell you who had set the fire right away and get it over with. Then allow you to know where life took April and Isaac. There were some things in the book that I don't exactly know how they fit in. I'm not sure if Karli has written other books that play off of April's story or not (guess that is something that I should check into).
I would definitely recommend this book, but mostly just because you have to know why and how things happened in April Showers. I think if this book happened to be a stand alone; it wouldn't be nearly as good.

Review:

I didn't know what to think when I started this book. I had read some other books by this author and was curious as to what this one would be like. I had seen it on Wattpad, but only the first chapter was there, so I had to buy it immediately. I was sucked in. I had never thought I would be a fan of books about the mob, but it seems here lately I have been more drawn to them. This one was no different. You automatically feel for the characters. You get a feel for them, like you are actually there experiencing the same trials and tribulations that they are suffering through. All the characters have a great chemistry together and you can't help but want everything to work out for them. Everyone deserves a happily ever after. I was a little disappointed with the ending. It feels to me like it is somewhat of a cliffhanger. You never really get all the answers that you want. I'm not sure if there is going to be another book or not. I think this story would be fine if it ended the way it did, but I can't help but to want more. I would definitely recommend this book and this author for that matter. I am waiting for Fallen Crest Public to be released. Good job Tijan! Excited about what is to come!

Review:

Really liked this story. The characters had great chemistry and you could relate to them very easily. The author changes POV sometimes in the middle of the story so you have to pay very close attention. It switches from present view to past tense so you can relate to the present by knowing what had happened in the past. Excited to see what this series has to offer.

Review:

Short story. Tells of Jack's and Ramsey's view of when they first met Lexi. It is really good to be able to hear the guy's side of the story. I still kind of dislike Jack because of how he has treated Lexi, even if she is partly to blame, but after hearing what he was going through; you feel a little sympathy for him. I still haven't made my mind up about Ramsey yet. I'm currently reading Avoiding Responsibility so maybe I can make a better assessment about him in this book. I really hope Lexi comes to her senses about Jack and gets over him once and for all...even if it isn't with Ramsey.

Book Two: Avoiding Responsibility

Synopsis:

Review:

What do I say about this book? I'm not even sure where to begin. I feel for Lexi. I know she is having a hard time with her relationships, but then again I just want to slap her around. I don't understand how these men can have such a pull on her, but again, I've never been in her situation before. I'm not a fan of Jack AT ALL. He seems very sexy and compelling, but after what he did to her, not just once, but multiple times; I have a hard time having any good feelings toward him. Ramsey seems like a decent guy and I know that Jack has warped Lexi so much that she has a hard time with trust. I really hope that everything works out for the best between Ramsey and Lexi. I also kind of wanted to see Lexi end up with her Mystery Man. The entire book I had a feeling of who it might be, but it kept switching throughout the book until he was finally revealed. It seemed like she could of had a good life with him also. I'm still not a fan of the jumping from present to past, but I guess it needs to be done to know what is going on in the present story. Ready to find out what happens in the final book. Will be starting it shortly.

Book Two and a Half: Avoiding Intimacy

Review:

Not really into this book. I mean I like Chyna and Adam, but don't really care about how their relationship. I'm more concerned with Lexi, Ramsey, and Jack. That is what this series is really about. It's cool to have another story, but I think it could have done well without it. I've started the book, but haven't quite finished it. I don't know if I will. I may just skip it and go straight into Avoiding Temptation. I'm ready to find out how Ramsey and Lexi are doing since the wedding.

Book Three: Avoiding Temptation

Synopsis:

Two years after walking out of Jack’s wedding, Lexi has finally put her past behind her. She has made up her mind about where her life is headed. This time, she is sticking to her guns, no matter what.
That is, until a phone call shatters the fragile grasp she has on her new life. Lexi is forced to question everything she thought she knew about what she wanted, and life-changing events push her to reevaluate the very plans she holds so dear. Nevertheless, Lexi has to choose her true path. That might just mean deciding, once and for all, that she doesn’t have to answer to anyone but herself.
In this highly anticipated final installment of the bestselling Avoiding series, follow Lexi as she juggles a new career, a new city, and the burgeoning affections of three very different men.

Rebecca Berto: Being Kalli

Rebecca Berto

Book One: Being Kalli

She just doesn't know it yet.

Review:

This book wasn't at all what I expected it to be about. I definitely thought it would have more erotic scenes but it didn't; which isn't a bad thing, just not what I was expecting when I read the synopsis and saw the cover of the book. This book is about a girl, Kallisto aka Kalli, who was sexually assaulted as a young girl by one of her mom's boyfriends. She has never really gotten over how she felt after that and has never been able to be alone with a guy in a room. This is why she chooses to have sex with guys in public places. She knows there is a chance that she could get caught and it can never turn how horribly wrong. She has grown up with Nate and Scout as her best friends. Never really thinking of Nate as much more than that. Yes, they make out sometimes when they are drunk, but it has never led to anything else until one night when they make the bet. Kalli ends up winning the bet, but it may come at a cost she isn't willing to pay. When she finally realizes that what she feels for Nate is more than friendship, she does the one thing she has always down and messes it up. She doesn't know why she does it, but then she starts to realize she has no reason to fear being with Nate. She has always loved Nate.
This story didn't go the way I had expected it to go from everything I had seen about it, but it was still a good read. I'm interested to see what else the series will have to offer. I'm not sure exactly how I feel about this story though. I don't think I was blown away by it, but I didn't hate it. Like I said, I think I have to see where the series will go to know how I truly feel about it all.

Other Books in series have not been released and not sure what the names are. Will update when more information is known.
